About Me

Hey! I'm Tara, an artist & photographer, based in Idaho.

I discovered my passion for art as a child, like many others, and currently create part-time, in addition to working a full time job. My main goal with my art is to bring more nature into people's lives + homes.

i paint & photograph plants, animals, & scenes inspired by my adventures along the west coast + within the pacific northwest

As someone with many solo, outdoor hobbies from surfing, skating, snowboarding, trail running, fishing, archery, off roading, and so so much more, I'm someone that's always been drawn outdoors. When I was working towards my Psychology degree at U of I, I learned how important being immersed in nature is to people's overall happiness and unfortunately, in our modern society, many people don't get to be outside as much as they'd like to be. I use acrylic paint, photography, + other mediums to share plants, animals & scenes from my adventures along the west coast and within the pacific northwest, in hopes to bring more nature into people's lives, with an emphasis on close up/macro subjects + textures.

I believe strongly in being present and in awe of the world. Living in color, rather than looking at things as black and white.

Nature has a way of teaching many lessions of patience, present living, resilience, etc. My style of art is a reflection of that - I love the vivid colors this world shows us daily. The different textures, patterns, and when you look real close and study how/what things are made of. The chaos of nature and the ever changing conditions, sometimes harsh and cold, other times warm and full of bliss all have a way of making us feel alive in the moment. My style has changed a lot over the years, but I've always incorporated some kind of nature into my art.

Years of art + photo classes, artist at the San Diego Zoo, commercial muralist, art instructor + tattoo artist intern - these are just a few of my accomplishments as an Artist...

Art was the biggest part of my life, in a wide variety of mediums. In my late teens and early 20s, I was creating murals for local businesses, entering art shows, winning awards, and trying to find my styles and medium, immersing myself in this world, getting paid to create pieces I truly loved. I was an intern at a kid + adult art class business, where I had daily, one-on-one, hands on training from professionals that teach you about the foundations of fine art. In addition to various other teachings throughout the years.

Fun fact: color mixing and matching is one of my favorite things of the painting process. 90% of the time, I only use 5 colors: Black, white, red, yellow, and blue (primary colors) and I seem to have a knack for looking at a color and matching it almost perfectly everytime.

Life happened and art went on the back burner for about a decade.

Now, after years of being in Sales & Marketing for startups & large corporations in the 9-5 sphere, I've come back to my love of painting, with a new understanding of business/entrepreneurship. I've always had this mindset that I'm in competition with no one but myself and self-motivated to be better every single day. I see everyone else as a friend, mentor, or someone I can support and learn from. I'm excited to be an entreprenuer in this industry, to grow as an artist, and to work with other businesses and individuals to help bring more nature into their lives/companies. Working with others in this space, collaboration with individuals/businesses, and giving back/volunteering to organizations that help our planet have always been important to me.

When I'm not creating or working my day job...

I'm probably doing something like:

  • running on a trail or swimming somewhere with my Blue Heeler, Renegade
  • traveling around in my pickup truck
  • riding my little Honda Trail 125
  • gardening on the porch
  • reading some non-fiction book
  • working on a diy project
  • cooking, baking, or brewing up juices, smoothies, or espresso drinks
  • spending quality time with family + friends
  • trying new things
  • singing or dancing to music in my kitchen
  • in the gym
  • playing an old Zelda or Mario game on the Nintendo
  • or doing something else outdoors
